10 Articles To Start A Creative Career

How To Start A Creative Career
So, I am pretty set on having a creative career. I've only ever been a creative person and, really, I don't think any other kind of job would suit me!

There is one problem, though. I have come to terms with the fact that creative careers are often unreliable. I mean, if you want to work freelance, you'll have to learn how to effectively market yourself and your work and produce a steady flow of unique and top quality content at all times. If you have a creative block or dip in motivation, you can wave goodbye to a decent wage that month.

So what about working for someone else? There are creative jobs out there, yes, but the competition you will be up against will be tough. As the number of people aspiring for a creative career rises, so does the number of people you're going to work harder than and produce better content than.

After all that, do I still want to aim for a creative career? Yes, I do. I wouldn't want to do anything else! I'm well aware that it comes with a lot of hard graft and, being a young, enthusiastic graduate, I'm still really excited to work hard for what I want. I'm glad that I will be constantly learning as trends change and my style develops. That is what I want out of a job.

I've got a rough idea of where I want my career to go but what about when it comes to actually implementing it? I can imagine it's like building a house. Double the cost and double the time it will take to get there.

However exciting it is to be at the start of your career with all of these ideas about what could be, there's no denying it can sometimes feel overwhelming. I'm desperate to learn as much as I can and my lack of knowledge sometimes leaves me feeling like a small fish in a big pond.

During my job as a Creative Content Developer, I came across a holy grail website that seems to answer all my questions about where to start with a creative career and also gives me content inspiration called Creative Boom. I honestly can't get enough of it and if ever I'm stuck, I trawl through the website and end up opening about 20 different tabs with information that can answer my question.

If you've got this far, you're probably interested in having a creative career, like me, so I've picked out 10 of my favourite articles from Creative Boom. I have included a real range of my favourites from inspirational quotes from professionals to motivate you to succeed to step by steps on how to ditch the job you're in and start a creative career.

So, here are my 10 articles to help you in starting a creative career:

As always, if you have any particularly inspiring websites or articles on starting a creative career I'd love to hear them!
